Dojo Etiquette

When first attending the Dojo you will need to follow these points of Etiquette, on arrival we will supply you with a leaflet out lining the Etiquette in more detail.

Bow before you enter the dojo again when leaving for the day

Arrive at least 15 - 20 minutes before the session starts to fill out application forms and your induction

No shoes on the matt, wear slip on shoes to kick off at the edge of the mat when session starts

Address your teacher as “Sensei” (Which means teacher) at all times.

Ensure personal hygiene, freshen your breath, shower, clean feet, hair brushed and tire back if long and finger nails cut short or taped if growing long.

Clean and presentable clothes are to be worn and if wearing a Kidogi (uniform) it must be clean and ironed.

Politeness. Rules of behaviour and common decency are very much part of Ki Aikido. All students are expected to acquaint themselves with Aikido etiquette. After starting practising one should try not to give up but continue with a strong mind, being determined to overcome difficulties. You will by and by understand the principle and spirit of Aikido feeling a great benefit.
